Yamdrok Yamtso Lake, the 'Turquoise Lake of Yamdrok, lies in the central portion of Tibet. Situated at 15,000 feet and surrounded by mountains rising to over 20,000 feet, the scorpion-shaped lake sparkles in a shade of sapphire-blue. Several villages tend to their crops along the shoreline creating an emerald green ring around the lake. Here a villager's horse meanders across the lush meadow.
