The fabled Kingdom of Hunza (Pakistan) is situated
in a spectacularly narrow gorge amidst the Karakoram Mountain Range,
between China, Afghanistan and India. So remote was the region,
it wasn't until 1887 that Sir Francis Younghusband became the first
European to reach the area, during the Great Game. The Hunza Valley
is so beautiful and removed from 'the main track' it was said to
be the prototype for the mythical Shangri-La in James Hilton's novel
Lost Horizons. The delicate softness and subtlety of the terraced
fields stand in sharp contrast to the surrounding mountains ...
it is a paradise. Nature creates all without erring ... she acts
without contrivance or special intention ... stay still to absorb
a boundless imagination.
